Lynn Shelton (director/writer/producer)
After several years of acting for the stage in Seattle and New York, Lynn Shelton attended the MFA program for Photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She then spent a decade as an experimental and documentary filmmaker (The Clouds that Touch us out of Clear Skies, The Fruit of our Labors) and as an editor (Outpatient, Hedda Gabler, Measure) before writing and directing her first feature-length film. The result, We Go Way Back, premiered at Slamdance 2006 where it picked up the Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature and the Kodak Vision Award for Best Cinematography. Shelton’s second feature film, My Effortless Brilliance, premiered in competition at SXSW 2008 and won Shelton a nomination for the 2009 Film Independent Spirit “Someone to Watch” Award.
